the girl in the garden
A garden photo shoot complete with a defiant little Poet who always said "No". Her personality is wild, much like her hair. That mop of curls is getting blonder by the day; it's hard to tame and a headache to brush.
She sports the occasional dreadlock and is determined to carry her basket, full of ephemera and beloved toys: a pink camellia, a silk ribbon, a wooden tea cup, a grey bunny, a hair bow and an apple core. She is fiery with affection and charm, completely fearless and absolutely hilarious. If I look closely, behind the curls and blue eyes, I see my reflection; she is so much like me as a child, with English-rose cheeks and a dreamer's gaze.

So beautiful - she looks so inquisitive. I have a little one with curls much the same (except brunette!), and yes that brushing is a consistant headache! I feel your pain Jodi! xx
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet set of photos. Just delightful.
ReplyDeleteSuch an adorable little girl! These photos are so cute!
ReplyDeleteSimply stunning. She is such a beautiful girl, and that first photo is just amazing.
ReplyDeleteRonnie xo
These photos are enchanting. That's just the right word. Your little girl, in all her defiance, is enchanting.

aww, such storybook photos. "Once upon a time, in a land far, far away, lived a little girl named Poet..."
ReplyDeleteStunning. So stunning! The first picture is like a canvas. Beautiful!
ReplyDeletePoet is just so beautiful! I can imagine those curls are hard to tame, but they are amazing! x
ReplyDeleteGorgeous, like an old soul who's been here before. Short curls are so cute, and hopefully a bit easier to take care of!
ReplyDeleteSublime images of your honey girl! I could snaffle up every item from caramel baby and child. Their wares are divine. WIshing you a beautiful day with your little sprite :) xx
ReplyDelete"sprite" is such a good name for her ;) x
DeleteShe is so beautiful - when did she turn into a little girl so strongly? x
ReplyDeleteomg she is so beautiful & cute, she looks like a dolly.

exquisite photos!

My daughter's hair is also curly, and was a headache for me to tame as well until I found and started using Moroccan oil on it. Although pricey, it's completely worth it, since it helps remove tangles as well as keep them at bay.
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful! It must be nice to see your little girl through someone else's eyes (lens?) She sounds so much like my Harper, a big fan of "no", wild but also cute as a button :)
ReplyDeleteOh, she is so cute! I just want to eat her!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures. Her blonde hair look so lovely in these pictures. Carrying her basket with her favourite toys is so familiar to me; my 3 and half year old son keeps his small toys/kits/favourites in his basket and carries some of them to bed. Such simple and innocent joys of the life!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous pics, love the feeling in them!

she's the sweetest!
ReplyDeleteI love this! She is so, so beautiful. That last outfit is making me so jealous - I want an adult sized outfit and her curls to match!
ReplyDeleteShe is gorgeous! Lovely photos. Sam x
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Poet matches her name so well! She looks just like a sweet, adorable, happy little poem. I love these photos. :)
ReplyDeleteStunning images! Especially love the first one of her in the garden. My girl always needs a bag / basket to carry all her favourite things , and still doing this at age 6 .
ReplyDeleteJust lovely. What enchanting style to these images.
ReplyDeleteI love the term sprite.
Nothing like a little wildling to call your own :)
And I must ask, where is the beautiful little mermaid from?
Thank you!
I bought the mermaid from a local store but the brand is maileg.com (there were pirates, too!) x
DeleteOh they make those sweet little mice as well. Love them.
DeleteThank you for letting me know!
I could dress Josephine in Caramel Baby alone, just a little pricey right now! Poet is delicious and it's crazy how your words could be describing Phiney too. Like two peas these two, I think xx
ReplyDeleteshe is so beautiful Jodi. These photos look like images from a fairy tale book.
ReplyDeletethose are beautiful! Poet is a really cute little model. I like her determination. :)
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely beautiful photographs! Poet is a little beauty. Looks like she was having a delightful time in the garden.
ReplyDeleteI feel your pain - blonde little-girl-curls are difficult to manage.
What beautiful photos, styling and a very beautiful Poet. Your posts fill my soul with happiness and hope. I don't know what it is about the way you write and, especially, what you write about that touches me so much. Whatever it is, keep posting.
ReplyDeleteOh she is gorgeous. My daughter has very similar hair ( and disposition). The curly ones are always feisty and we have dreads at times at our house too. Enjoy every minute. mel x
ReplyDeleteThose clothes! In love them :) she is a beautiful little bundle your Poet.
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful photos. She looks like a twenties actress :-)
ReplyDeleteToo pretty! Love the photos and the cute little model. Got me thinking of modern little red riding hood. Got my eye on your next posts.
ReplyDeleteShe's so gorgeous! The entire outfit is amazing
ReplyDeletethis photos are unreal! she looks like out of a fairy tale!
ReplyDeletecute!
These photos are absolutely beautiful - the colours, the light, and the adorable girl with her halo of curls.
ReplyDeleteI love her wild hair!
ReplyDeleteThe photos are so atmospheric, you can almost hear the lazy buzz of bees, your garden sprite looks lost in her own time warped world, and the clothes are so beautiful, to be cherished and passed on, not used, abused and thrown in the bin.
ReplyDeleteA little "leave in". conditioner works wonders on fine, curly tangles, before combing gently, then brushing
ReplyDeleteshe's such a beauty! I love her hair , the red cheeks and how she carries that basket, like it's the most precious thing in the world
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. Poet must have the most amazing wardrobe!
ReplyDeleteSuch gorgeous photos! So lucky to have! I was wondering where you got Poet's basket from? I'm looking for some Mummy and toddler size baskets like this.
ReplyDeleteI purchased Poet's from a local store but you can buy them online here:http://www.bashiri.com.au/index.php?route=product/product&path=147_234&product_id=473

Thank you! I've been looking for these online but clearly my searching skills aren't very good as I had never come across this website.
DeleteThese have such a fabulous 40s English garden quality to them. I am now expecting to read stories (sometime in the future) of Poet's adventures solving mysteries with her rag tag gang of chums, followed by picnics with lashings of ginger beer.
ReplyDeleteYou'll get an invite to the picnic, promise ;) x

so this is magical.
ReplyDeleteBut man oh man is she adorable. I think all little girl hair is tough to brush. Min has straight(ish) hair and it's still always full of lollipops and tangles!
